Mourinho charged by the FA
Jose Mourinho has been charged by the Football Association over comments he made after Manchester United’s Premier League win over Newcastle earlier this month.
The FA has charged Mourinho with abusive and/or insulting and/or improper language.
Mourinho is alleged to have said “fodas filhos de puta” which is Portuguese for “f*** off sons of a b****” into the camera. The match saw Mourinho’s side come from two goals down to win 3-2 thanks to a 90th-minute goal from Alexis Sanchez.
The FA investigated the allegations and in a statement, this afternoon said:
“José Mourinho has been charged following Manchester United’s game against Newcastle United on 6 October 2018.
“It is alleged that his language at the end of the fixture, as captured by the broadcast footage, was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper.
“He has until 6 pm on 19 October 2018 to respond to the charge.”
The incident came as the club denied claims earlier in the day they were going to sack Mourinho following a poor start to the season. United are currently in 8th place in the league 13 points 7 points behind leaders and rivals Machester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
Manchester United take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday at 12:30 pm.
